Four venues cover the Select all-inclusive plan. The main all-day pavilion runs a rotating buffet with separate Asian, Sri Lankan, Mediterranean, and Maldivian sections; the over-water à-la-carte venue does dinner only; the beach-side grill handles lunch and sundowners; and the surf-deck bar runs from dawn to sunset for the surf crowd. Honest read on the food: four venues is broad for the mid-range tier, though the polish sits below the premium islands. The strength is the warmth of the Sri Lankan kitchen and how much the Select plan reliably includes.

Diving and the house reef

Hudhuranfushi's North Malé position puts it within boat range of the area's marquee dive sites (HP Reef, Manta Point, Banana Reef, Lankan Manta Point). The on-island dive school runs the standard PADI programme, with certification courses available.

What sets Hudhuranfushi apart is having Lohi's right off the point. Few Maldivian resorts sit on a country-marquee surf break, and this has been the surfer's North Malé base for two decades at the mid-range tier.

The underrated strength is that 35-minute speedboat. For a European arriving on a late-afternoon Doha or Dubai connection, the seaplane-only islands mean an airport-hotel overnight or a 06:30 next-morning flight; the speedboat removes that and makes a five-night stay genuinely worthwhile.

Our recommendation: book a Sunset Ocean Villa for a seven-night couple's stay timed to the late-January surf-and-weather peak, or a Sunset Beach Villa for the same window if you don't need over-water. Build the trip around the Lohi's dawn sessions, treat yourself to one dinner at the over-water à-la-carte venue, and use the speedboat to fly in and out on the same day rather than padding the trip with a buffer night.
